Oxford Uni is one of the most generous unis going for UK students - they provide around £8 million in financial support for undergrads every year! In fact, 25% of all UK based Oxford students receive a non-repayable bursary! Oxford believes that no exceptional student should be left behind, and their figures certainly back that up!
For: UK students with Home fee status - up to £3,200 annual bursary dependent on household income.
There is no application process for this bursary, and if you qualify, you’ll be notified in the September before you start your course.
For: undergraduate students from Norfolk or Suffolk - £5,500 per year towards living costs.
All courses and colleges are eligible and scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence.
For: UK undergrads who live more than 80 miles from Oxford, the university will help with travel costs between home and uni!
It’s non-repayable and can be up to an annual payment of £500 if you live particularly far away!
For: UK undergrads from low-income households, Crankstart offers a £5,000 per year bursary plus access to funded internships (with up to £2,500 in bursary), volunteering opportunities, and community events!
For: UK students with Black African or Caribbean heritage from disadvantaged backgrounds - £3,300 grant for your first year of study!
Once you have been offered a place at Oxford University you’ll be able to complete the undergraduate scholarships application form online - remember, there is a deadline, so don’t delay!
You can apply for two kinds of loan from the Student Loans Company (a government-owned organisation), to help you fund your studies:
Tuition Fee Loans cover the full cost of your course and are paid directly to your university.
Maintenance Loans help you with living costs, are means-tested and are paid into your own bank account.
You will have to eventually pay these loans back after your course has ended and you’re earning above the threshold amount.
Depending on your personal circumstances, you might qualify for a government grant (one you don’t have to pay back!).
Students with children or dependents, those with disabilities, and those studying medical, social work or teacher training courses may qualify. So it may be worth checking out!
