The University of East Anglia ranks 27th in the UK with seven subjects ranking top ten courses in the country! So, if you’re considering courses such as American Studies, Sports Science or Creative Writing - you’ll be hard-pushed to find anywhere better (Complete University Guide, 2023)!
East Anglia’s campus is based in Norwich, and the campus itself is just like its own little city! From unique architecture to shops and restaurants to its 50 acres of unspoilt parkland - if you don’t want to leave campus, you really don’t have to! And if you do want to stretch your legs, you’re only 2 miles from Norwich city centre. Easy!
Voted as one of the top ten places to live in the UK by Metro in 2019, Norwich is a coastal city home to the famous Norfolk Broads! A huge area of wetland full of magical waterways that stretch right up to the university’s doorstep - and as such, Norwich is the only city in the UK set within a national park!
Norwich is also home to Latitude festival as well as Royal Sandringham! A reasonable mix we'd say!
UEA is proud of increasing diversity on its campus - its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee provides a space for discussion with a solution-focused approach on all issues brought forward.
In addition, the uni has achieved silver with Athena SWAN (one of only a handful of institutions to do so)!
Researchers and partners at UEA have contributed to some pretty impressive achievements in the sustainability sector.

The University of East Anglia offers a full complement of undergrad courses, plus apprenticeships, summer school, and foundations years! Not many universities advertise their foundation year offerings, so if you’re considering embarking on one - definitely check them out!
Come and stay in one of UEA’s award-winning accommodations! There are lots of options for both city and campus living, and there is also the opportunity to live with a host family, couple or single person in the local area! (Don’t worry every host is uni approved). It’s ideal for anyone who might be nervous about making friends, or who needs a stay that may not fit the traditional tenancy length of campus accommodation.
There are so many scholarship opportunities for undergrads at UEA! Some funding schemes relate to a placement year or a year abroad, while others look at A level attainment or household income. If you’re accepted, you could be in line for up to £15,000! So it’s worth checking out!
With over 250 sports clubs and societies to choose from, you’ll be hard pushed not to find something that interests you. And remember, you can sign up for as many clubs and societies as you like. It’s the perfect way to make friends with like-minded people, so be brave and put yourself out there!
Crabs caught in the North Sea at nearby Cromer are well known for being particularly tasty and tender due to the nutrient-rich local fishing waters. So if you’re a shellfish fan - Cromer’s your place!
